Pietro Frassica

Back to "Spring 2019" courses

Contemporary Italy, with its beauty, nuances and contradictions, is the locale for the fine arts, as well as for political tumult and profound questions of identity. From its varied geography and architecture, to its concomitant histories, traditions and cultures, Italy cannot be easily categorized or defined; however, it can be explored. This course will delve into issues that Italians face today (e.g., race and immigration), in addition to exploring modern social, political and economic institutions that shape Italian life and society. It will focus on various disciplinary interests from the fine arts, to sociology and anthropology.
