Marie Basso joined the Humanities Council as program manager for the Program in Italian Studies in November 2018. In this role, she works closely with the program director to manage all aspects of program administration. Her responsibilities include planning and executing program lecture series and conferences; communications management and outreach; overseeing program budgets and expenses; and academic and curricular management.
Before joining the Council, Marie had worked in the Office of the Dean of the Faculty for six years, supporting a wide variety of Princeton faculty-related processes, including faculty searches, junior faculty appointments, program directorships and executive committee appointments. Prior to her coming to Princeton, Marie had served as a senior administrator in the Center for Biotechnology at Temple University, coordinating all administrative aspects of the Center, including the recruitment and appointment of its international faculty and research staff. She had previously lived in Italy for eight years, working at the University of Siena Medical School as an administrative coordinator for international scientific conferences and as an editor and translator of scientific manuscripts. Marie graduated from Haverford College magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, with a B.A. in English, and she is fluent in Italian.
